I think I find this post every April Fools Day and I am so happy that I do
So I’m coming out of my not posting thing to defend the Matrix Resurrections from being called a rehash. (Note, not saying that this won’t be a bad movie, just clearing up some misconceptions)
Our Neo is actually the sixth Neo to exist in the long history of the Matrix. That means that five other Neos, five other Zions, and five other Matrix iterations have all come and gone. There’s an implication that this isn’t the first time it’s been 1999 in the lore. My theory is that this movie is another (literal) reset of the Matrix program. But due to the events of the previous trilogy, they have to reuse the old people in order to get the Matrix back in working order.
But, because the Matrix works on a cycle and they’re using an old Neo, that means that the cracks in the Matrix are much easier to spot. Which means Neo discovering the Matrix and trying to free people happens all over again. This time much faster and potentially more catastrophic.
Again, I’m not saying this will be a good movie. I’m saying don’t categorize this as a common reboot because the whole point of the original series was the cyclical nature of the Matrix. And this may be another cycle inherent to the series.

Ok I was thinking some more about how Booker and Nile don’t have any special weapons from their time periods that they canonically carry with them everywhere like the rest of the team does (as far as I’m aware).
And @inheritor-of-memories told me about the ceremonial sabres that some high-ranking French officers receive, but I wanted to see if there were any other historical French weapons that were more functional for Booker to use...

I was wearing the kiss of l’amore della mia vita, sunblock, black sunglasses and the red blood of the men who hurt my husband. I was walking outside in South Sudan. It was breezy and dry and there was full sun, which I was very happy about. A lot of locals stared at me. I smiled at them and wished peace to be with them.
